Dr. Melanie Worley, DO
Sports & Regenerative Medicine Physician
When pain starts getting in the way of your training, your work, or just getting through the day, Dr. Melanie Worley is the kind of doctor you want in your corner. She’s here to help you heal without surgery and get back to the activities that make you feel like yourself.
Dr. Worley comes to Derrington Orthopedics with rare, dual fellowship training that directly benefits you. She completed an interventional orthobiologics fellowship at the Centeno-Schultz Clinic, one of the nation’s leading programs in image-guided regenerative procedures. There, she trained intensively in advanced platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and bone marrow concentrate treatments for joints, tendons, ligaments, and spine conditions, learning how to use precise fluoroscopic and ultrasound guidance to place biologic treatments exactly where they’re needed.
She’s also fellowship-trained in sports medicine from West Virginia University and is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Sports Medicine. That combination means she understands injuries from every angle: the “this hurts right now” side you feel in the moment and the long-term, “how do I protect my body for the next decade?” side that most people worry about quietly.
Dr. Worley is not just up to date on the research – she’s contributing to it. She’s presented nationally at The Orthobiologic Institute (TOBI) and the Regenexx Conference, and she earned the Top Research Award from the Interventional Orthobiologics Foundation (IOF) for her work on biologic treatments in sports medicine. For you, that means the person planning your procedure isn’t guessing or following a trend. She’s thinking in terms of data, outcomes, and long-term joint health.
In the exam room, her focus is simple: understand what you want to get back to, and build a plan around that. Her practice is intentionally personalized and holistic. She looks at biomechanics, training load, sleep, recovery, and lifestyle along with your imaging and physical exam. If regenerative treatments like PRP or bone marrow concentrate are a good fit, she’ll explain why, walk you through the actual procedure steps, and set clear expectations. If they’re not the right call for you, she’ll tell you that too and help you think through other options.
As a lifelong athlete, she doesn’t just “get” athletes on paper. She’s lived it. She’s run the Boston Marathon three times with a marathon PR under three hours, has won multiple triathlons, and competed in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. Right now, she just finished her first HYROX competition, and when she’s not in the clinic, you’re likely to find her training for her next competition, exploring new trails, enjoying the beach, or experimenting with plant-based recipes and a very dialed-in cup of coffee.
That background matters when you’re sitting across from her. Whether you’re a runner, a desk-bound weekend warrior, a skier, or someone who just wants to walk the dog without limping back home, she understands how much your activity means to your identity. Her goal is to help you protect that part of your life with the least invasive, most thoughtful plan possible.
Originally from Ohio, Dr. Worley is excited to call California home and to bring her expertise in regenerative and sports medicine to Derrington Orthopedics. If you’re looking for a physician who combines high-level training, serious research chops, and a genuine love for helping people stay active without surgery, Dr. Worley is here for you.
